Lake Keesus Management District
LKMD is the governing body for Lake Keesus located in Waukesha County, Wisconsin. All lake residents are members of LKMD. To be considered an eligible voter, you must be a property owner or 18 years of age and reside within the boundaries of the LKMD. All residents are invited to attend the Annual Meeting which is scheduled towards the end of summer.
There are committees that oversee areas such as the public boat launch, weed harvesting, fishing, etc. LKMD also works closely with the Town of Merton and the DNR on issues regarding Lake Keesus.
All property owners are assessed a yearly charge for LKMD on their property tax bill. The amount assessed is the same for all property owners, regardless of property value, and reflects the amount needed to cover LKMD expenses. These funds are used to manage the boat launch and improve water quality through weed control.
